Hello everyone!

I am Furqan Mulla and I would like to share my experience at an event (Machine Building) conducted at KLEIT, Hubli (Advitya'18, A two day National level Students' Technical Fest).

Well, we started our journey at 9 a.m(28th September, 2018). Roshan had arrived quite early and he was picked up by Girish. They were waiting for us at Girish's house. Me and Manjunath picked them from Girish's house and also picked Sanjay. 

We reached KLEIT by 9 30 a. m. We had registered for three events namely Robo Race, Machine Building and Paper presentation. Sanjay participated in Paper presentation and we four of them participated in the other two events. 

Events were not yet started. We had our breakfasts in college canteen and decided to explore the campus until the event starts. KLEIT really has a very beautiful campus. They have a wonderful library, the infrastructure of library is such that one is motivated to spend time there. 

Events started around 1 p.m. We decided that first we will finish up with robo race and then we will go for machine building. We participated in robo race and secured 8th place out of 20 teams. Unfortunately only top 6 teams were selected for the final round.

Now it was the machine building which we all were very excited about! We get goosebumps when the talk is about machines!

Totally  32 teams had registered for machine building. In the first round, participants were given a two stroke petrol engine ( Suzuki Samurai's engine). Initially they had dismantled some of the parts of the engine namely clutch plates, springs, piston rings, piston, cylinder block, gasket and cylinder head. Each team were given 7 minutes to assemble these parts. Until we had done with robo race, nine teams had completed thier participation and there was lunch break.

We had our lunch and rushed back to the arena where the event was conducted to find that next was our turn. 

 Only one member was allowed to assemble the engine and other had to help him. Me and Girish took the initiative. Girish assembled the engine while I helped him out. We completed the assembly within the given time. The marks were allocated on basis of number of parts assembled and there was also negative marking for wrong assembly of parts. 

It was around 4 p.m. we completed the event, simultaneously Sanjay had also done with his paper presentation. 

We decided to go to Hubli and had some snacks. On the way back to Dharwad, I got a call from the event organizer that we were selected in top 6 teams for the final round!

While dropping Girish and Sanjay to thier home we met Umesh Sir on the way and shared our experience.

Next day we were asked to be in the college campus by 10:30 a.m. We reached campus in time and we checked out that we had secured third place in first round. 

In the second round the participants were given a four-stroke petrol engine ( TVS Victor's engine) for the assembly. In this round clutch plates, pressure plates, cover, timing chain, piston rings, piston, cylinder block, cylinder head, motor and its cover were to be assembled in 10 minutes. 

The assemebly of clutch plates and placing them in the engine block was quite tough compared to two-stroke engine and we spent 4 minutes to assemble this part. Next we had to assemble the timing chain and set the time. We assembled this part,cover of clutch plates, piston rings, piston, cylinder block and cylinder head. We ran short of time and couldn't assemble the last part that is the motor. 

Though we had not assembled all the parts we were sure that we had not made any mistakes in the parts assembled. We had a hope. We secured fourth place in the final round. Top three teams were rewarded.
